Lmwcg'mwcwinvolucrina è una mwdaproteina mwdqsintetizzata dai mwdgcheratinociti presenti nello strato spinoso più esterno dell'mwdwepidermide. Essa si accumula nella loro faccia interna.cite-ref-1[1]

Sembra che questa proteina abbia la funzione di disporsi lungo il versante mwfqcitoplasmatico della membrana fosfolipidica dei cheratinociti tramite una fitta rete di mwfwponti disolfuro, fornendo un importante contributo (reso anche da altre mwgaglicolipidi come la acilglucosilceramide) all'mwggimpermeabilità di queste mwgwcellule destinate a diventare corneociti, cioè cellule morte per mwhqapoptosi costituenti il rivestimento più esterno della mwhgcute.cite-ref-2[2]cite-ref-3[3]
